Stress Busting Kale Crisps
Green vegetables are the best source of magnesium in the diet. This mineral can have a relaxing effect on the nervous system so good for reducing stress.
When treating anxiety green vegetables can ease nervous tension and relax muscles, helping us feel physically relaxed. This can be important in supporting sleep at stressful times.
When it comes to brain health Kale contains Omega 3’s and brain supporting antioxidants including beta-carotene, flavonoids, and polyphenols.
Kale contains large amounts of vitamin C, A and K making it a tasty and valuable member of the cabbage family. A true super green!
Kale is a relatively cheaper organic vegetable, making it an affordable greener green. I make a good helping of kale crisps from one bag. The key is to spread them one layer otherwise they remain soggy and don’t crisp as you would like. Make as many bags as you like just don’t overload the tray.
- Give the kale a little rinse.
- Shake off any excess water.
- Put into a mixing bowl.
- Add salt and olive oil.
- Add extra seasoning of choice. I like smoked paprika, mixed herbs and chilli flakes.
- Mix well.
- Line a baking tray with parchment and spread the kale evenly as one layer.
- Bake in the oven 170 C for about 20 minutes until crispy.
You can store your kale crisps in an airtight container for a week or so.
